چکیده
Abstract Objective Concussion symptoms are non-specific and various symptom inventories influenced by sex, even in the absence of injury. The Texas Postconcussion Symptom Inventory (TPSI) is a new 66-item concussion-related measure with three empirically-derived indices (Cognitive, Neuropsychiatric, Somatic). We evaluated if reporting on TPSI related to sex large, mixed clinical sample. Methods A diverse sample (N = 319, ages 17–92, M 48.75), including patients seizure disorders, dementias, head injuries, completed TPSI. profiles between females (55%) males (45%) were compared using profile analysis age as covariate. Results Although (M 20.62, 95% CI [18.91, 22.26]) 19.14, [17.32, 21.04]) endorsed higher scores Cognitive index (Possible Range 0–52), no significant differences patterns seen groups (p 0.24) or Neuropsychiatric 0.56) Indices. However, difference was found Somatic 0–34), 13.06, [11.99, 13.94]) [t(318) 2.78, p < 0.01, partial η2 0.02] than 10.98, [10.01, 12.17]). Conclusions In this preliminary study, results indicated concussion-associated across variety conditions. Similar prior studies, reported more somatic yet similar their reports symptoms. Because baseline data rarely available when evaluating concussions settings, future research aims develop normative stratified investigate utility within concussion cohort.

Self-report post-concussion symptom scales have been a key method for monitoring recovery from sport-related concussion, to assist in medical management, and return-to-play decision-making. To date, however, item selection and scaling metrics for these instruments have been based solely upon clinical judgment, and no one scale has been identified as the "gold standard". We analyzed a large set ...
